For more than 50 years, the name Fiberfil has been synonymous with Value-Added Thermoplastic Reinforcement. Rex Bradt, founder of Fiberfil, pioneered the Corporation in 1952, marketing the first glass reinforced Polystyrene compound. The first application became U.S. ordinance-approved Styrafil, for use in non-magnetic land mines.

§         1955: Bradt sells the company to a group from Evansville, Indiana. The company begins manufacturing Fiberglass         Reinforced Thermoplastics (FRT). The culture is slow to       develop, but by 1958, Fiberfil has moved from a small laboratory (located in a barn near Warsaw, Indiana) to a small Warsaw, Indiana manufacturing plant.  

§         1963: headquarters are moved to Evansville, and production begins at a plant in Heidelbach. In 1968, a new plant is constructed on Outer St. Joe Ave. in Evansville. 

§         1967: Fiberfil becomes part of the Rexall Drug and Chemical Company.

§         1969: Rexall’s name is changed to Dart Industries, Inc.

§         1970: Fiberfil International operations begins, with construction of a new site in Stoney Creek, Ontario Canada.

§         1974: all plant operations are moved to modern facilities at the Northbrook site.

§         1978: Plastic Alloys is purchased, and this became the Fiberfil LaMirada facility, located in California.<

§         1980: Fiberfil, as a member of Dart Industries, engaged in the manufacture and marketing of plastics, chemicals, environmental services, housewares, packaging, architectural, pharmaceutical, health care and other similar products, merges with Kraft.

§         1981: Fiberfil merges with Wilson Products and becomes Wilson - Fiberfil International.

§         1984: Wilson Fiberfil is sold to a group of investors, who form PS & T.

§         1986: Wilson Fiberfil is purchased by Akzo, and in 1989 the company name is changed to Akzo Engineering Plastics, Inc.

§         1992: Akzo Engineering Plastics is purchased by DSM. The company becomes known as DSM Engineering Plastics. DSM begins to implement strategies which focus on Specialty, High –End Application products.

§         2005: DSM Engineering Plastics Ltd. is purchased by Fiberfil Engineered Plastics Inc. The original legacy of the company is restored, as Fiberfil once again becomes a leader in creative, value added custom compounding.
